Our chapter is a sponsor of the annual Accounting & Auditing Student Conference. This event is held every year in the fall within the Twin Cities metro. College students from near and far have the opportunity to explore different career avenues within the world of Accounting.
There are upwards of 100+ exhibitors, learning sessions about the CMA & CPA exams, personal branding, a career panel and prize drawings to round out the day. The Minneapolis Chapter, along with other sponsors, collectively make this a free event for students to attend. A big thank you to Shari Nepper & Lianne Loeks Munson who have coordinated this on behalf of the IMA for nearly a decade.
Dr Eric Grube has been an ambassador of this event welcoming his own attendees as well as inspiring other students to attend. He can help students near and far explore career-defining certifications to choose from (and there are many). Dr. Grube does so much more for our profession in developing the future leaders of the Twin Cities business community. We are appreciative of his endorsement of the annual AASC conference.
Students attend this full day event all the way from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. An event like this can open doors for your professional career. At the least, there are plenty of people further along on their journey that can help guide you. Exploring an Accounting career can be a fulfilling and rewarding experience. Your professional career will span the next 40+ years after graduation. Taking the time out of your schedule could be invaluable in the long-term.
Keep an eye out for next year's fall event and ask your Accounting professor about this as well. Additional information is available
